This chart of the Consumer Confidence Index and University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment is one of the Sentiment Charts I use to help set the asset allocation of my "explore portfolio."



About the Conference Board (from their web site): For over 90 years, The Conference Board has created and disseminated knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society. The Conference Board operates as a global independent membership organization working in the public interest. The Consumer Confidence Index, or CCI, is a monthly release from the Conference Board.  It dates back to 1967. The CCI is designed to assess the overall confidence, relative financial health and spending power of the US average consumer. The Conference Board releases three headline figures each month: Consumer Confidence Index, the Present Situation Index, and Expectations Index.
