November 17, 2014:   Today I bought my first Dungeness crabs of the season.  I paid $5.99 per pound at Safeway on Main Street in Los Altos for two of the four in this display case.

According to Wikipedia, The Dungeness crab is named after Dungeness, Washington, which is located approximately five miles north of Sequim and 15 miles east of Port Angeles. Its range extends from Alaska's Aleutian Islands to Point Conception, California.
